War stories: Long Islanders recall WWII
A Farmingdale veteran remains haunted by the death of his teenage friend on Iwo Jima. A captured GI from Freeport recalls his days in a German prison camp. Seventy years ago, the Allies ended years of conflict with victories over Germany and Japan. Throughout 1945, servicemen and women from all over Long Island were involved in the final push to reach Victory in Europe and Victory in the Pacific.

Onorato navigated the North Shore, and started in Southold. They are both visited 15 bagel stores from East to West, and met at the finish line - A&S Bagels in Franklin Square.

Officials respond to Riverhead Snowflake Regatta ‘carnage’ video
Last Sunday’s Snowflake Regatta in Riverhead made waves this week after a video documenting a series of collisions narrated by some excited spectators surfaced on YouTube, attracting wide-scale attention. The video, titled “Snowflake Regatta Carnage 2014,” has received nearly 670,000 views since it was published Tuesday.

Hobby turns into Babylon Village's Bunger Surf Shop
Charlie Bunger, 73, started building surfboards as a hobby out of his basement in Lindenhurst in 1961, when he was only 20 years old. His hobby became a full-time business only six months later, with the opening of Bunger Surf Shop in Babylon Village. Now, Bunger runs the store with the help of his two sons, Charlie Jr. and Tommy.
